CAPE COD SKI CLUB

A MEMORIAL TO OUR FELLOW CAPE COD SKI CLUB MEMBERS ... past and present ❄️

Recent memorials will be shown below. Read more about many of our friends here.

Clem Smith, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Clem/Vaughn was an avid runner, skier (Club member for many years) and sailor who stayed very active well into his late 80s. He owned several sailboats over the years and was particularly proud of the 20-ft Luger he successfully built. He cruised extensively with Franny and other family members in Cape Cod Bay and to many ports-of-call including Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Cuttyhunk, and Block Island. Oftentimes, some of their children joined them as well. Clem’s ski buddies are invited to A Celebration of Life on November 14 at noon, Bridge View Grill (Quality Inn, green awning entrance), 109 Trowbridge Road, Bourne. Please RSVP by November 1 to Pauline at pjudge725@gmail.com (Clem’s niece).

Robert Alan “Al” Sloan, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Al was often referred to as “PerpetuAL” by his sons for his constant desire to be active. He enjoyed walking the dog with Janice, skiing with grandchildren, golfing with friends, planning his next big vacation, and meticulously detailing his Porsche. Al also meticulously looked after his family. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend and fellow Ski Club member, Janice Rosamond Sloan. More than anything, Al liked to spend time with family and friends - all who knew him are encouraged to take great care of those they love and always make time to enjoy a good laugh. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

From Nancy, Steve’s wife and long-time Club member ... My dear Steve passed away last night. He developed some infections on top of his underlying blood cancer and just couldn’t take any more. He was a fighter, a lover, and the king of the “one liners”. He loved his 50+year real estate career and everyone he encountered had the potential to be a prospect or a friend. I took him to a WV football game 42 yrs ago and he became the biggest fan. He was a kind and gentle father and friend, slow to anger and always looking for the good side of things and he could always make me laugh even if I really didn’t want to. He will be deeply missed.
