CAPE COD SKI CLUB

A look back on the 2025 - 2026 Cape Cod Ski Club season! miles and miles of smiles!

Killington ... Great Snow! Great StarT!

And, let's not forget the great members! A hearty group set out for Killington and arrived to single-digit temperatures. But, you can't get the snow without the cold!
The Club practically had the slopes to ourselves which is one of the many benefits of mid-week skiing and riding! Thanks to Joan ... a first-time overnight trip leader! Check out some of the scenes below swiped from Facebook accounts!

Indian Head - Loon ... 32 years strong!

In early January, many members headed to Lincoln, New Hampshire for our 32nd annual two‑day overnight trip to Loon Mountain. This year’s group was larger than ever, with an impressive 94 members joining the adventure ... one quarter of the Club membership!
Many participants drove up a day early to enjoy an extra day on the slopes or to be among the first on the mountain Tuesday morning. Snow conditions were excellent—especially by New England standards—making for an ideal getaway.
After a full day of skiing and riding, we gathered at the bar of the Indian Head Resort for drinks and a classic spread of cheese and crackers and clam chowder. But our appetites were truly satisfied by the resort’s extensive dinner buffet, overflowing with a wide variety of delicious dishes. The abundance of choices made it a feast to remember.

Once everyone was recharged, the real fun began on the dance floor. Guitarist and singer “Doc” filled the evening with energetic Golden Oldies, keeping the dance floor packed from start to finish. Some members didn’t leave the floor all night! The atmosphere was lively, joyful, and nothing short of a fantastic celebration!
The next morning, Indian Head treated us to yet another generous buffet—this time for breakfast. With plenty of options for every appetite, it was the perfect way to fuel up for another day on the mountain. After quickly assembling some to-go lunches, members either returned to Loon Mountain for more skiing and riding or began their journey home.
Overall, it was an unforgettable trip enjoyed by almost everyone. Unfortunately, not all of us were so lucky—Ellen Whalen suffered a fall on her snowboard, resulting in fractures to both wrists. We wish her a speedy recovery and truly hope to welcome her back on the slopes next year.
Until then—see you next year at the 33rd Loon overnight trip!

Tellement de neige! Tellement amusant!

That says, "So much snow! So much fun!" So true! What a great week we had in the French Alps! We had 54 people on the trip with many new members.  Several members met us in Geneva for the 3 hour bus ride to Meribel, and some met us at the hotel, but we all arrived as expected. Our hotel is located in Meribel, which is the middle valley of Les 3 Valles, so very convenient for skiing to the other valleys. Les Trois Valles is the largest ski resort in the WORLD! And the next morning when we ventured out, everyone was blown away by the expansiveness and the exceptional terrain in this resort. The resort has over 160 lifts, including 38 gondolas, in addition to many 4-6 person lifts, poma lifts and trams. The resort has an uphill capacity on lifts of 270,000 – 300,000 people per hour, which is mind-blowing! And plenty of terrain for everyone! Click on the photo below for the fun recap video!
We were also blessed with 20+ inches of fresh powder mid-week, which made for some awesome ski conditions! Fortunately, our first 3 days had good visibility, sunny temperatures just around freezing, so very pleasant conditions for getting to explore Val Thorens, Courchevel, and some of the other valleys that are part of the resort.
The two days that had low visibility and all the snow made for more challenging skiing. Most did fewer runs staying in Meribel and came back to the hotel a little wet, but enjoyed the powder.  The afternoons on both days were a little easier to see. The reward was our final day, when the sun returned and everyone had a fabulous ski day in beautiful powder. The downside was too much snow creating severe avalanche risk. The upper mountain remained closed during the snow days as well as for our final day, but there was still plenty good stuff to ski.
Many also took advantage of the afternoons on the snow days to try sledging on the ski slopes which is pretty wild fun! And of course the fun apres ski scene which is legendary in European resorts. Another group went cross country skiing in the beautiful forest on the resort, and others did water aerobics in the indoor pool. The lobby of the hotel was great for watching the Olympics on their numerous TVs too.
Our only injuries occurred off the slopes due to slippery conditions with ski boots on the walkways with all the snow. Linda Ordway slipped at lunch and fell on a table getting 2 broken ribs,  John Sholes fell dancing in ski boots at apres ski and injured a wrist, and worst case was Lynn Roe, slipping on the deck in front of the hotel, breaking her arm in 2 places, requiring surgery.  We wish them all speedy recoveries!
Our hotel staff was excellent with a fun bar and great bartenders preparing the special cocktail of the day, as well as local wines and beer. On our last night, they gave everyone a special shot of Genipe, an herbal liqueur made from the Artemisia plant harvested at high altitudes.
Breakfast and dinner were buffets, with open hours so you could come whenever you wanted and sit anywhere at our reserved CCSC long tables that seated many. This was great for mingling and getting to know everyone on the trip. The food was sometimes uneven, but the expansive selection always had some good things for appetizers and adders to the main entrée to please everyone.  Escargot, Raclette, Fondue and the special spaghetti prepared in a Parmesan cheese wheel with flaming cognac and alfredo sauce were standouts.
The highlight of the week at dinner had to be ABBA night – you will have to watch the video to really understand what fun that was. Most of us are still singing “Dancing Queen” and doing the dance moves we did that night.
Salli Myers and I, Pat Eggers, would like to offer special thanks to Tim Donnelly for pulling together the video from all the photos people took from Facebook and WhatsApp. Here you can see for yourself what an amazing place this is! Special thanks to the 2 videographers for the ABBA videos.

First air trip ... Big Sky! Big Fun! Big Hats!

Big Sky proved to be another wonderful visit for the Club! The Huntley Lodge provided a warm welcome with chocolate chip cookies and trail maps! Sunday - an Ikon blackout date for many - saw members trekking off to snowmobile and snowshoe excursions. These guys know how to unpack & pack a bus! It's not their first rodeo!

The Westward Social pub found the every seat at the bar filled with members cheering on the Patriots! We made a few new friends from like-named CCSC (Century City Ski Club from California)! A giant buffet breakfast - included in the package - was a great way to start each day. Beautiful, blue skies greeted us early in the week with Thursday and Friday seeing some much-needed flurries.
A large group put on their warmest clothes for a sleigh ride and delicious dinner at a lovely log cabin, complete with entertainment and merriment! And cowboy hats! Several members ventured to the top of Lone Peak for a glassed-in view of the area. Hard-pass from some ... others walked out onto the glass floor!
Skiing and riding all week was fun with large groups (24 at one count!) and small pockets of members venturing into the trees and onto bumps. Fresh corduroy could be found late in the day and the conditions on Friday were much better with an overnight snow.
The trip home was uneventful ... except the part where many members' skis and boards decided to stay an extra day in Bozeman. Our thoughts with Janice and Tricia injured during the week and a speedy recovery to both! Thanks to Nancy and Scott for herding us all and keeping everyone up-to-date!

Mt. Washington Hotel and Fresh Snow!

I'm not sure what it says that there are so few pictures from the Mt. Washington - Bretton Woods overnight trip. Maybe we all were having SO MUCH FUN skiing and riding in the fresh snow! It would seem like New England is surely the place to be this winter! Trees? Check. Powder? Check. Bumps? Check. Whooping it up on the trails? Double Check! It's been a long time since I couldn't "hear" myself make a turn!
While last year's March trip brought spring skiing and riding, this move to January surely paid off! We have 33 members join with a few taking the time to enjoy the spa and shopping amenities at the hotel. As well as the history tour! Awesome!
